We give the following advice to customers when looking after their new tattoo:

The clingfilm placed on you when the tattoo has been completed should be kept on for around 6 hours.  After this time, wash your tattoo with warm water and antibacterial soap. After letting your tattoo dry naturally or by dabbing gently with a clean towel or kitchen roll, put on a thin layer of Bepanthen, this is a nappy rash cream and is on sale at Matt Roe Tattoo or available in all chemists/supermarkets.

After this process re-cover securely with clingfilm.

This same process should be repeated for the next 3 – 4 days, twice daily.

Make sure your hands and clean and dry before applying cream to your tattoo, bepanthen should only be used for the first 2 weeks,
after this, if needed moisturisers or lotions containing Vitamin E can be used.

Do not have a bath for the first 2 weeks, we advise you have showers instead.

Your tattoo should be protected from direct sunlight for the first 6 weeks. After this, your tattoo should be protected with
Factor 50 sun cream to avoid premature ageing and fading of your tattoo. Manufacturers advise that this should be re-applied
every 2 hours if on the beach.

If you ARE using a sun bed the same rules apply.
